Conference on “Economics” hosted by Edward Goldsmith at the Ecological Centre in Cornwall (UK)

ECOROPA Symposium "Towards an Ecological Economy – Unterwegs zu einer ökologischen Wirtschaftsweise" hosted by Ernst von Weizsäcker at the University of Kassel (Germany) 18-20. September with more then 100 participants.

Establishment of the German chapter of Ecoropa, the E.F. Schumacher Gesellschaft, with Ecoropa members Carl Amery as president and Peter Kafka as vice president.

Publication of the Ecological Manifesto for a Different Europe.

"Ecoropa Messages" as a tool for European communication on ecological issues was created by Edouard Kressmann, the Secretary General of Ecoropa.

Ecoropa members supported their Austrian members Freda Meissner-Blau and Paul Blau in their efforts for an Austrian referendum on nuclear power.

Meetings of Ecoropa Working Groups in particular the working group on "Political Criteria for Ecological Action" in preparation of the Ecological Manifesto

First Colloquium Ecoropa on 15-17 September at the Institut Européen d’Écologie in Metz (France)

A preparatory colloquium in Paris in December 1976 resulted in the Declaration of the Ecological European Action Group stating their objectives "créent à cet effet un centre de réflexion destiné à definir, en fonction des circonstances, les voies et moyens utiles à la réalisation de ces objectifs ... une société de liberté, en équilibre avec la nature, en harmonie avec elle-même et conforme à la responsibilité que l'Europe doit assumer."
